About this artist

Astronomar has been stirring up and building alliances in the dance music community since he arrived in Seattle by way of Alaska in 2008. Newly relocated to Los Angeles in 2013, he's seen by far his busiest year on the road, and in the studio, infiltrating the playlists of most every A-List DJ with ears. Thereʼs an intangible uniqueness to everything he does; a strong hip-hop influence permeates his productions, based on his earlier roots in hip hop & turntablism. Since his first release "Had To Move On" (released via Discobelle) in 2011, he has released an EP on Mad Decent/Jeffreeʼs, and Top Billinʼ plus countless other remixes. The biggest names, from Diplo, to Skrillex, to A-Trak have supported his tracks by featuring them on their own mixes & radio shows, and playing them out nightly, around the world.

His remix of Wax Motif & Neoteric's 'Go Deep' became a set staple for Skrillex & Boys Noize's live show, and echoed the stages of Coachella, Ultra Music Festival and was included on Skrillex's 2013 Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1. He joined Diplo in Las Vegas, as the only special guest invited to played his residency at the world-famous club XS, plus saw prime slot times at both EDC Las Vegas and Paradiso Festivals in 2013. This year also saw him join forces with Neoteric & Bot on their own boutique label, Main Course. Already 6 releases deep, with another 10 planned, it is 'the' label to watch for diverse, cutting edge releases.

Diplo and DJ Fresh tapped Astronomar remix their international hit 'Earthquake' in May, which will soon see release on Ministry of Sound. A collabo EP with the mightly Sinden is also scheduled for release on Boys Noize's BNR Trax label later this year. After a long run of festival appearances this summer, Mar will be heading down under for an Australian tour, and across North America in the coming months. While we wait for the rest of the world to catch on, Astronomar is a name to look out for in the new US club scene. This is that next shit.
