About this artist

Raised on a steady diet of Jackson 5, teen pop, and Glee, six-piece Sacramento, California-based family band Cimorelli became Internet stars with their a cappella rendition of Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the USA.” Formed in 2007, the home-schooled, all-female group consists of sisters Christina, Katherine, Lisa, Amy, Lauren, and Dani Cimorelli, all of whom honed their instrumental skills, tight harmonies, and effortless unison singing under the tutelage of their music major, composer, and choir director mother Lynne, who introduced each daughter to music between the ages of two and four. Cimorelli released their self-titled debut album in 2008. They acquired Sugababes manager Sarah Stennett the following year, resulting in a record deal with Universal and the subsequent release of 2011′s CimFam EP, which included covers of hits by Jessie J, One Direction, and Demi Lovato. In the years that followed, Cimorelli released a string of EPs — Believe It (2012), Made in America (2013), and Renegade (2014) — as well as a split single with singer/songwriter Tyler Ward. In late 2014, they released Christmas Magic, an a cappella EP of holiday favorites. Their sophomore LP, Up at Night, arrived in 2016, and added country flourish to their clean pop style. The crowd-funded Sad Girls Club dropped the following year. ~ James Christopher Monger & Neil Z. Yeung
