Alon Oleartchik (born Alec Rosenfeld on 15 June, 1950 in Warsaw, Poland) is an Israeli bassist, singer-songwriter, jazz composer and producer. He came to Israel with his family in 1956 settling first in Netanya and later in Bat Yam. He joined The Nachal Troupe during his IDF service in 1968. There he met Danny Sanderson, Meir Fenigstein, Efraim Shamir and Gidi Gov, all of whom would become part of the seminal Israeli 1970s pop/rock band Kaveret in 1973. He made a guest appearance on the short-lived progressive rock band Fourteen Octaves and played on the debut solo albums by Arik Einstein and Yoni Rechter. After Kaveret broke up for the first time in 1976 Oleartchik moved to the United States, studying jazz at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. He moved to New York three years later.
In 1984 Oleartchik returned to Israel, launching a highly successful solo career with his album "Oleartchik" the following year. He has recorded both rock/pop and jazz albums and served as the bassist for the Israeli jazz ensemble The Platina in the 1990s.. Oleartchik has also participated in all of the Kaveret reunions including the 40th anniversary "Final Concert" in 2013. He is still active, releasing the album "First Day" in 2014 and touring.
