“Underdog. Underrated. Undeniable.” These three words have come to symbolize Detroit rapper 6AM and his career thus far. Trevor Ingram was born in the dangerous yet endearing city of Southwest Detroit (A.K.A. #SOUTHWESTSIDE), he set out to make a name for himself as a rapper back in 2012, with his first mixtape “The Best Unsigned, Vol. 1”. under the stage name of “Class”. Though still mostly unknown in the industry, over the years his music has been heard by executives and A&R’s at Roc Nation, Shady Records, and GOOD Music, among others. In 2017 he changed his name to “Trev”, a frequent nickname of his. This symbolized a more reality-based change in his music. Under this stage name he released the classic mixtapes “Black Sheep” and “The Lord Giveth”. Then, in 2018 he even worked with Amaire Johnson of Big Sean’s “Don Life”, and although nothing major came of it it was a valuable learning experience. It also opened up his eyes to the fact that the music industry, this “life”, is very real. In 2019 his stepfather, Gerard Thomas passed away from cancer. He passed away at 6:00am. This led to the stage name of “6AM”, a constant reminder of the moment that he lost one of his greatest supporters and a large figure in his life. “6AM” has a double meaning though. “6AM” symbolizes hustle. “6AM” symbolizes those late night parties and hangovers. “6AM” symbolizes waking up early to that significant other or fling. Most importantly, “6AM” symbolizes waking up the industry and fans to a new rap talent. One who has the potential to remain for a long time, and no longer be an underdog who’s underrated, but definitely undeniable. WAKE UP to 6AM.
