DMV rapper 3ohBlack had been active for roughly half a decade when his brash, pro-self-defense track “All Talk” (2019) went viral, leading to a partnership with major-label Capitol.
3ohBlack (born Brian Antonio Edwards) got into music through the go-go scene in his native Washington, D.C. He played in a band before turning to rap music around 2014, and soon appeared on tracks by the likes of PaqGod, Fatz da Big Fella, and Diego Bo$$. Within a few years, he had issued numerous mixtapes, including the Leggin or Nah series (the fourth volume of which featured an appearance from Rico Nasty), Bipolar (highlighted by “Legg Walk”), and Bigalow. In 2019, the year he added the Leggism tape to his discography, he also made waves with “All Talk,” which took off with TikTok users. Later in the year, the rapper signed a deal with Capitol, and in 2020 he continued with the singles “Avirex” and “Drive the Boat.” ~ Andy Kellman
