About this artist

Martin Kottmeier and Tristan Norton make up Young Bombs, a Canadian duo who made their name as remixers before making the jump to writing and producing original songs. Throughout the 2010s, the pair made anthemic yet atmospheric remixes of songs by Carly Rae Jepsen, Selena Gomez, Christina Aguilera, Billie Eilish, and dozens of others. Touching on styles such as trap and tropical house, their productions are unabashedly gleeful with a touch of melancholy, and always delivered with a youthful flair. After becoming in-demand remixers and appearing at major festivals such as Lollapalooza and Ultra Music Festival, Young Bombs began releasing original tunes in 2019, starting with “Starry Eyes.”
Kottmeier and Norton, both from Vancouver, became best friends in high school. They started out playing music together as part of the indie rock band the Sessions, along with songwriter Tobias Jesso Jr. The group formed in 2005 and won an international battle of the bands contest, Emergenza, in 2006. After releasing one EP, The Sessions Is Listed as In a Relationship, and touring across North America, the group disbanded in 2008. Several years later, Kottmeier and Norton formed Young Bombs, and their remixes of songs by Galantis and Cazzette appeared in 2014. The duo’s mixes soon gained an online following, and remixes for Kelly Clarkson, Tinashe, Troye Sivan, and others quickly followed. They soon supported acts like the Chainsmokers, Diplo, and Alesso on tour, in addition to festival dates and their own headlining gigs. Young Bombs began releasing original material in 2019, beginning with “Starry Eyes,” and “Don’t Let Them” appeared soon afterwards. ~ Paul Simpson
