The pseudonym of German deep house producer and DJ Jacob Dilßner, Wankelmut — which means “fickleness” in German — rose to fame when his unofficial remix of Asaf Avidan & the Mojos’ “Reckoning Song” went viral after being posted on his Soundcloud page. Born and raised in Berlin, Dilßner started DJing while still studying at University and after dabbling in music production, released his remix in 2011. Picked up by the group’s label, Four Music, the single was released in 2012 to acclaim throughout Europe, reaching the top of the charts in Austria, Italy, Germany, Hungry, Belgium, and Poland. Putting his studying on hold to focus on his music career, Dilßner headed out on a European tour to support the release. A year later his second single, My Head Is a Jungle, appeared and although it didn’t repeat the success of his debut, the track still managed to reach both the Italian and U.K. Top Ten. At the end of 2013 Dilßner released the Wood & Wine EP, which featured remixes from Italy’s Fabio Giannelli and celebrated German tech-house producer Ian Pooley. Wankelmut’s third proper single, Wasted So Much Time, came in mid-2014 and featured guest vocals from John LaMonica. ~ Rich Wilson
