Olympia punk band Vexx started their quest to blow people’s minds with squalling noise, ferocious energy, and no-holds-barred attitude in the early 2010s. Formed by manic vocalist Maryjane Dunphe, guitarist Mike Liebman, drummer Corey Rose Evans, and bassist Aaron Larson, the band combined the fury of the Avengers with the guitar attack of the early Wipers and delivered it all with a violent, swaggering kick. Their first foray onto vinyl was 2014′s eight-song self-titled EP released by Grazer Records. The initial run of 500 copies sold out and the record was reissued in remastered form by M’Lady’s in the U.S. and Upset the Rhythm in the U.K. later that year. Larson left the band soon after and was replaced by Ian Corrigan as the band undertook more live shows and recording. The Give and Take 7″ was released in mid-2015 by Katorga Works. Though the band kept playing shows, drummer Evans joined the punk band G.L.O.S.S. and Dunphe began working on her electronic pop duo CC Dust, which released a self-titled EP in mid-2016. Later that year, Vexx unleashed their second EP, Wild Hunt, which had been recorded at Dub Narcotic at the end of their whirlwind 2015 tour of Europe. It was again sponsored by the joint team of M’Lady’s and Upset the Rhythm. ~ Tim Sendra
