Veena Sahasrabuddhe, although regularly hailed as a rising talent in many quarters, is in fact an established artist. Born in 1948, she began singing in childhood. She has a good reputation and a growing body of recordings to her credit. In addition to the material detailed below she has recorded a seasonal cycle called Rutu Chakra for Rhythm House and has contributed to Music Today’s Bhaktimala series of Hindu devotional music. Also recommended is her four recordings of bhajans dedicated to Shiva, one of the trinity gods of Hinduism, on the album Bhaktimala: Shiva, Vol. 2. (This album also includes the singing of Umakant and Ramakant Gundecha.) ~ Ken Hunt
