German indie producer Ulrich Schnauss mixes lush instrumentation and thick-layered synthesizers for a sound that lies somewhere between '80s dream pop and modern shoegazer. Hailing from the small German town of Kiel, Schnauss began making music and sending demos anonymously to famed German label CCO. These songs would eventually make up his debut album, Far Away Trains Passing By. Schnauss' meticulous song construction is born out of a love for such indie artists as My Bloody Valentine and the Cocteau Twins.
