Trilok Gurtu

Indian percussionist and vocalist, born 30 October 1951 in Bombay, son of Shobha Gurtu, now based in Hamburg, Germany.
He names John Coltrane, Jimi Hendrix, James Brown and The Supremes as early influences while still living in India. He first started travelling Western countries in 1973. He has been an important figure for connecting Eastern and Western musical traditions both in jazz and world Music styles.
