Biography

Tom lives on the northern coast of Massachusetts with his wife, two sons, and a large cat. Using vintage and modern synthesizers, guitars, pianos, myriad sonic sculpting devices, and field recordings, Tom composes what Ambient Music Guide calls “lush, shadowed, emotional music that’s rich in harmonies and oceanic layers and…so deliciously slow.”

The spatial and dynamic aesthetic of the classic Hearts of Space, Windham Hill, and Private Music albums resonate through Tom’s work, described by Hypnagogue as “breathtaking…rich, complex and beautifully structured.”

Since 1993, Allmusic credits Eaton 649 times on 147 albums for a diverse set of roles including being an engineer and a producer, mixing and mastering, and for performing piano, keyboards, electric bass, bass, guitar, percussion, accordion, and vocals. He was an engineer on Laura Sullivan's Grammy Award-winning album Love's River.

His influences include Tangerine Dream, Patrick O'Hearn, Vangelis, George Winston, and Tim Story.
