Tomato Jaws

TOMATO JAWS is an electronic group from Ukraine. It’s appeared in 2002 and was formed by one of the pioneer of Ukrainian deep-house Alex junior (Alexander Zchyzchchenko). Starting the electronic music school and electronic label INNERTION he assembled a number of talented musicians around his ideas. In the first years the lead vocalist of Tomato Jaws was Alla Moskovska (singer of Gorchitza Live Project at the time). Tomato Jaws has been formed finally after singer Nata Zchyzchchenko (Alex’s sister) and house-producer Playone (Pavel Lenchenko) joined the band in 2006. Both new members of the band were bright and well-known musicians. In particular Playone released his music on such significant European labels as Exquisite Music, Plastic City and Deepology.
The turning-point of the band’s career was their performance on the Main stage of Kazantip musical festival in 2005. After that TOMATO JAWS began to perform a lot playing their sets in the best clubs from Saint-Petersburg to Odessa and from Berlin to Tumen'. They with such famous musicians as Telepopmusic, Yonderboi, Terry lee Brown junior, Curtis, Tom Kraft and others in one concert. Their videos were shown on musical channels in Ukraine, Russia and Holland, they became well-known artists, particularly house star Dub Taylor remixed one of their track.
In 2008 Tomato Jaws released their third long-play ONE SECRET – one of the best electronic albums in former Soviet countries. They made more than fifteen singles, EP and LP in Ukraine, Russia and Europe. BE WITH ME EP with remixes by Dub Taylor aka Tigerskin, Cbass and Mikobene and Playomotion has been released on the Elevation Recordings (Ireland).
One of the TOMATO’s unique features is a combination of house and Ukrainian ethnic music. Above all it’s Nata’s contribution to the music. She plays beautiful parts of recorder (a type of Ukrainian ethnic flute). The roots of her interest in folk instruments are in her family. Her grandfather Alexander Shlenchik was the famous master that produced a lot of classical and folk instruments. Meanwhile, Playone carried out his progressive ideas and made the album sounds like European electronic.
TOMATO JAWS is brilliant combination of beautiful melody and hypnotizing rhythms. Their music is a kind of encyclopaedia of house – from deep tech to progressive. But the heart of TOMATO JAWS music is Nata’s magic vocal that cast a spell on you and remain deep in your subconsciousness.
