The Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra (TMSO), also known as Tōkyo-to Kōkyō Gakudan, is a Japanese orchestra, founded in 1965 by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to commemorate the 1964 Summer Olympics. TMSO regularly performs at Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, Suntory Hall, Tokyo, and other prestigious venues. The orchestra is particularly known for performing works by Gustav Mahler. Apart from the classical repertoire, TMSO recorded Dragon Quest soundtracks in collaboration with Kouichi Sugiyama, as well as a few anime and film scores.
