About this artist

“As an entertainer, a performer, a writer, a recording artist, I'm better now than I was back then,” says Terri Clark. “And these songs really do stand the test of time. So we thought, what can we do that's going to not only raise some awareness with people who know who I am, but also put me on the radar for people who are younger and just coming into Country music now?”

The result is Terri Clark:Take Two, a new album from legendary singer, songwriter, and guitar-slinger Clark that pairs her with some of the biggest stars in music today—including Kelly Clarkson, Carly Pearce, Ashley McBryde, Lainey Wilson, Ben Rector and Cody Johnson—for duets reimagining her classic songs. “I'm hoping some 22-year-old who hears me singing with Lainey does a deep dive into my catalog and goes ‘Oh, man, I like that one!,’” says Clark with a laugh.

The material on Terri Clark:Take Two is a reminder of just how formidable Clark’s body of work really is. All eight of the songs included were Top Ten hits on the Country chart (several of them making it to No. 1), and notably, half of them achieving the very rare Country music cross-over success of charting on Billboard’s Hot 100. Beyond the success, though, Clark was struck by the sturdiness and resonance of her work when she dug back into it after all this time.

A native of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, Terri Clark moved to Nashville at age 18 and picked up a gig playing for tips at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge. Seven years later, artist and producer Keith Stegall, who had been a supporter of her music, took an executive position at Mercury Nashville and signed Clark to her first record deal.

Her self-titled debut album came out in 1995, spinning off three Top 10 country hits and going platinum. She would go on to sell over five million albums and release thirteen Top 10 singles, and tour tirelessly both as a headliner and alongside such icons as George Strait, Toby Keith, Brooks & Dunn, and Brad Paisley.
