About this artist

There are plenty of swooties in music, but there is only one Swooty. The Forest Park, Ohio native has been creating music and performing for well over a decade. In fact, Swooty was dropping tapes on HotNewHipHop and Dat Piff back in high school. Fast forward to 2020 and Swooty is continuing to grow and evolve with the times. Further, the crooner & emcee cannot be forced into one lane, with two albums and a pocket full of singles, he brings a diversity of sounds and executes his talents with finesse. As we head deeper into the decade, Swooty is taking his music in a different direction while coming through with the same versatility he entered the music industry with.

Born Darian Smith, his history in music begins before he really even had a choice. His family attending church on a regular basis meant Swooty was right there in the children’s choir singing. Meanwhile at home, Swooty’s parents were playing all kinds of music, his mother and grandmother playing Jill Scott, Aaliyah combined with his father introducing to him to hip-hop acts had a profound influence on Swooty. “Being older now and being able to digest those different styles of music as well as the things that were popular when I was growing up...all these things help me stay experimental with my music.” Swooty recalls. As he entered high school, Swooty took the helm on his creativity and started a group called Beyond All Doubt in 2009. Signs of his versatility and appeal shined as he released mixtapes and freestyles, this was only the beginning.

There is no specific sound or box you can force Swooty into, in fact he prides himself on that diversity in vocal performances. “I can’t name two of my songs that I approach in the same fashion.” the Ohio artist explains. Swooty isn’t motivated by the clout chase in any sense either, “I just want people to walk away with relief,” he says, “A lot of my music is personal to me, even the not so serious stuff.” His family’s influence on him, Swooty’s wanting to chase and experiment with music all came to a head upon the release of his debut album “Ugly” which stands for “UGottaLoveYourself”. The project would gain coverage from DBLCIN and set the pace for everything Swooty Mac brings to the table.

His ascension continues even now as over the course of the last few years, Swooty Mac has released a plethora of singles and expanded his reach across the country. Between shows on the West Coast, music videos, and coverage from big time outlets like Revolt, Swooty Mac is building an empire. Furthermore, when you combine his solo efforts with his over 15 collaborations, Swooty Mac is nothing short of a prolific artist. With over 50K streams to his name over his tenure, Swooty is taking advantage of his popularity and continuing to release versatile, genre bending music. As we come up on the summer of the new decade, Swooty is getting set to release a new project with frequent collaborator Devin Burgess (Kei$ha) called Sunday Morning.
