Sunset Black combines melancholic grooves with powerful alternative rock, surpassing their musical influences, who range from Incubus to Deftones. Their tunes strongly rely on flaming guitar strains and the superior vocal commands of Brandon Sammons. Sunset Black first formed in Kansas City in 1995, embodied by Sammons, Mike Evans (guitar), TJ Matthews (bass), and Jaime Gehly (drums). In 1999, the group decided to relocate to Minneapolis, trying to reach a broader audience, and within short time managed to be playing on the same stage as Fuel, Linkin Park, and From Zero. Two years later, they finally signed their first record deal with independent label Blue Worm Records. Securing the work of producer Matthew Kirkwold, Sunset Black recorded their first three-song demo, achieving extensive success locally due to continuous airplay by several radio stations. ~ Mario Mesquita Borges
