Sung-Won Yang

Yang Seong-won(Hangeul: 양성원) is South Korean cellist who performs worldwide as a soloist and as a chamber musician. He studied with Philippe Muller and Janos Starker. His all-Kodály debut album was chosen as Editor’s Choice of the month by Gramophone Magazine (2003) and a Critic’s Choice of the year by Gramophone (2003). He has also recorded works by Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Bach and Beethoven.. He is a frequent performer of contemporary music.

He is a Professor of Cello at Yonsei University School of Music in Seoul, Artistic Director of LG Chamber Music School, and a visiting Professor in Residence (2011–2012) at the Royal Academy of Music in London.[
