About this artist

Dancehall MC Stylo G was born Jason McDermott in Jamaica’s Spanish Town. The son of Poison Chang and the brother of Kodi Starr (Crazy Cousins), Stylo G moved to London, England when he was 14. His first significant release was “My Yout,” a grime-oriented track issued in 2004 — while the MC was still a teenager — with features from Sickman and Ice Kid. He continued to make moves with his fusion of Jamaican and U.K. sounds and scored another underground hit with “Call Me a Yardie” in 2011. After he linked with the 3beat label, he released the Diztortion-produced “Soundbwoy,” which reached the Top 20 of the U.K. pop chart in 2013. ~ Andy Kellman
