Stogie T

South African rapper and poet, born in exile in Tanzania in 1981 and based in Johannesburg, Gauteng, Republic of South Africa, performing with lyrics in English.

Formerly known as Tumi and for heading the band Tumi & The Volume, in 2016 he took on the alias Stogie T to explore other forms of musical expression, that he felt were constricted by his former guise as Tumi. Feeling confined to expressing socio-cultural understanding and conscious raps, Stogie T was chosen as an alias to explore other avenues that do not fall within the former category.
