About this artist

Melding moody late-night synth tones and intricately crafted indie pop, Steady Holiday is the solo vehicle of Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, actress, and multi-instrumentalist Andrea “Dre” Babinski, formerly of projects like Miracle Days and Dusty Rhodes and the River Band. Earning critical acclaim with her 2016 debut Under the Influence, Babinski continued to refine her sound over subsequent releases with the help of producer Gus Seyffert (Beck, Roger Waters, Dr. Dog). Following the disbandment of the duo Miracle Days, which she had formed with guitarist Edson Choi, Babinski spent a couple of years working as a hired gun, touring with the band Hunter Hunted and picking up musical and acting work here and there. By 2015, she’d begun working on material for a solo project which she dubbed Steady Holiday. With help from producer Seyffert, her first single, “Your Version of Me,” was released later that year and introduced Steady Holiday’s literate and dark-hued dream pop style. A handful of additional singles appeared leading up to the April 2016 release of her debut album, Under the Influence, which arrived via Brooklyn indie Infinite Best Recordings. Assembling a live band to back her, Steady Holiday was hand-picked for a prime slot at that year’s Coachella Festival. The following year, she returned with an EP called Terror, whose lead single mixed lush orchestrations with a slightly menacing feel. Working again with Seyffert, she recorded her follow-up LP, Nobody's Watching, which was released by the Barsuk label in August 2018. ~ Timothy Monger
