About this artist

Chicago-based singer/songwriter Dreamer Isioma earned viral success with their 2020 single “Sensitive,” which blended alternative R&B and funk with elements of hip-hop and loosely psychedelic dream pop. This bold mishmash of styles also defined further releases like 2021′s Crying in the Club EP and their 2022 debut album, Goodnight Dreamer.
Raised in Chicago with Nigerian roots, Isioma began to establish their creative reputation as a teenager, dabbling first in filmmaking then moving into music. Taking influence from other eclectic Windy City icons like Chief Keef and Tyler, the Creator, they taught themselves to sing, rap, and play guitar, creating the unique hybrid of sounds heard on their debut EP, Sensitive. Released in 2020, the title track became a breakout viral hit for Isioma, effectively launching their career. Later that year, the lush and evocative “Stop Calling the Police on Me” built on their momentum ahead of the 2021 EP Crying in the Club, with its party track standout “HUH?” In early 2022, Isioma released their debut full-length, Goodnight Dreamer, a stylistically ambitious collection stacked with bright sounds and unusual songwriting. ~ Timothy Monger
