Also known as Magdi, Magdolna Rúsza is a Serbian-born, Hungary-based pop singer, who — albeit controversially — was chosen in 2006 to represent Hungary in the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest, held that year in Helsinki. Born on the 28th of November in 1985, Magdi would make her first waves as a young competitor in the regional talent competition circuit (Ki Mit Tud and the 2004 Lira Pop Festival), and acting as singer for a group called Madness. Her appearance at the 2006 Megasztár competition — and subsequent appearance on that show’s finalist compilation — made Rúsza a household name. In 2008, she found herself hitting the Top Ten on the Hungarian album charts with a live collection. She marked the start of her first tour in 2007. ~ Chris True
