About this artist

Do you like pina coladas? Gettin' caught in the rain? Then this is just what you've looked for. Who could forget Holmes' flip-flops and Bermuda shorts-evoking "Escape (The Pina Colada Song)" from 1979? It boasted the greatest musical peripeteia since George Jones' "He Stopped Loving Her Today." Though many regard him as a one-hit wonder, Holmes was a talented songwriter who penned songs for Gene Pitney, the Platters and the Drifters, as well as a producer whose clients included Barbra Streisand, Sparks and the Strawbs.
