Rex Allen

A swing-oriented player, Rex Allen considers Jack Teagarden his main idol on trombone, while emulating Lionel Hampton on vibes. During his career thus far, Allen has led the “New Tommy Dorsey Orchestra,” a Gene Krupa tribute band, a “Big Band Salute to Glenn Miller” in 1993, and his own Swing Express, an all-star octet that recorded for the Nagel-Heyer label in 1994. ~ Scott Yanow
