Redshape

Über diesen Künstler

Berlin-based Redshape produces an adventurous, hardware-heavy brand of techno which draws from the early Detroit and Chicago electronic scenes, ’90s breakbeat house, and other styles. He is widely praised throughout the dance scene for his improvisational live performances as well as releases for well-respected imprints such as Delsin (The Dance Paradox, 2009) and Monkeytown (A Sole Game, 2018). Initially an anonymous figure bearing a signature red mask, Redshape eventually revealed himself to be Sebastian Kramer, first active under his own name in 2000.
Redshape first appeared in 2006, and quickly earned a reputation as an exciting live act, performing at numerous clubs throughout Europe. Several EPs arrived on labels like Music Man, Delsin, and the producer’s own Present, earning favorable comparisons to early Planet E releases. Following the club success of singles like “Unfinished Symmetry” and “Dog Day” (both released in 2007), Redshape’s debut album, The Dance Paradox, arrived in 2009. First appearing on Running Back with the 2011 EP On Da Floor, the producer’s second full-length, Square, was released by the Gerd Janson-helmed label in 2012. Redshape continued issuing material on several labels, including 3024, Dekmantel, and Nonplus. Two Best of Live EPs, containing tracks developed during his live performances, appeared in 2016 and 2017, respectively. Third full-length A Sole Game was released by Modeselektor’s Monkeytown Records in 2018. Redshape’s 2019 releases included Android Malfunction (Delsin) and Rise (Running Back). ~ Paul Simpson
