One of Pakistan's most promising and talented musician, sitar player, Rakae Jamil has performed across the world, drawing accolades for his rich, powerful and passionate music. He is known for his command over sur (tone) and lay (rhythm), his knowledge of raag (melodic modes) and taal (rhythmic time-cycles), an extensive repertoire, and a uniquely modern exploration of classical music.
Rakae is one of the leading members of Mughal-E-Funk, a band that has received immense appreciation in Pakistan for its spiritually profound, culturally resonant and daringly bold music. In addition to playing the sitar and leading the band, Rakae works as a music composer, producer and recording artist. He has also composed soundtracks for a number of films, television and online commercials under the name of Red Brick Music Studios.
Throughout his career, Rakae has collaborated with musicians from some of Pakistan's most well known musicians such as Zebunnisa Bangash, Noori, Ali Sethi, Farida Khanum, Ali Zafar, Jimmy Khan and Mekaal Hasan. During the same year, he appeared again in Coke Studio as performing member of "Mughal-E-Funk" and as a guest artist on the Surbahar for Haniya Aslam's song, "Mein Irada". Rakae's track Aurangzeb with his band became one of the season's critically acclaimed tracks. The band has also released their debut EP/Album titled "Sultanat", available on Spotify and Apple Music.
