He’s best known for his work as an in-house engineer at MH Studios Toronto in Toronto, Ontario Canada where he’s worked with the likes of Danny Fernandes, A&E (First 48), CBS (CSI) and Epic Games (Fortnite). His unique ear has allowed him to help an array of artists from different genres as well as develop a new sonic of his own blending reggae, bhangra and hip hop with modern day pop.
Harjeet Singh Pabla was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, youngest of two children. Growing up in a Sikh household Harjeet was always surrounded by music. His love for music and faith however, went hand in hand. He was always taught the importance of strong morals and ethics, which is evident in all of Punisher’s musical endeavours today.
At the age of 11, Punisher and his family moved to Scarborough, Ontario, Canada. It was at this time that he began being exposed to hip hop. As he got older, his best friends of Jamaican and west-Indian descent introduced him to reggae. He found much peace and calmness as he pushed through the sounds of Bob Marley to Black Uhuru, Dennis Brown, Barrington Levy, Peter Tosh and Beres Hammond.
PunisherSOUND started his professional journey in 2008 when he enrolled at The MetalWorks Institute for Music Production and Audio Engineering located in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Eager to experience the industry Punisher made his first debut release in 2009 with the release of a mixtape entitled “PunishMENT.” As the program progressed Punisher fell in love with the art of audio engineering. His love for mixing and engineering led to an internship right out of MetalWorks with Light of Dae Studios (Doyle Audio Engineering).
Three years after completing his MetalWorks program from school Punisher was contracted by MH Studios Toronto in Toronto, Ontario, Canada as a mix and track engineer. After numerous successful projects Punisher was taken on board as one of MH Studios Torontos’ in-house engineer. Punisher’s projects at MH Studios include: Danny Fernandes, A&E (First 48), CBS (CSI), Epic Games (Fortnite) and a plethora of urban pop acts across the city.
During his time at MH Punisher’s musical itch overflowed into his own music. Between 2016 to now Punisher has released a number of singles that melded the sounds of his favorite genres that influenced him over the years. From reggae and hip hop to pop and electronic Punisher has found comfort in the blurred lines between genres.
In 2021, PunisherSOUND released one of the most important singles to date, “Warriors.” The single addressed the unrest between farmers and the Indian government who had unjustly passed laws regarding the ownership of agriculture in India. Peaceful protests by the farmers were met with great violence and hostility and with Sikh pride, Punisher stands in solidarity with these farmers.
