About this artist

Priscilla Block is a country-pop artist who found success in 2020 with a string of relatable singles (“PMS,” “Thick Thighs,” and “Just About Over You,“) that effectively paired earworm melodies with unfiltered lyrics. She followed up on that success in early 2021 with the single “I Bet You Wanna Know,” which helped send her 2022 debut, Welcome to the Block Party, into the upper half of the country charts. A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, Block moved to Nashville after graduating high school to pursue a career in music. After enduring a litany of odd jobs to make ends meet, she had a surprise encounter with Taylor Swift — her longtime idol — which gave her the morale boost she needed to go all in on her musical dreams. In 2020 she began uploading a steady stream of self-penned songs and choice covers to her social media channel and quickly began accumulating a fervent fan base, who connected with the themes of empowerment, self-love, and acceptance that imbued original works like “Thick Thighs” and “PMS.” Those fans helped Block raise enough money to release a proper single, and the resulting “Just About Over You” became a hit, topping the streaming charts and earning Block a record deal with Block Mercury Nashville/InDent Records. She released her eponymous debut EP the following year, which included the anthemic single “I Bet You Wanna Know.” Her full-length debut, Welcome to the Block Party, arrived in February 2022, peaking at number 39 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. Block landed another charting hit later that year with “You, Me, and Whiskey,” a collaboration with Justin Moore. Early 2023 saw the release of a deluxe edition of Welcome to the Block Party, which added four new songs, including the reflective “Me, Pt. 2.” The standalone single “Fake Names” appeared later that year. ~ James Christopher Monger
