About this artist
Belgian conductor (born February 16th, 1962, Huy, Belgium; died September 16th, 2020, Brussels, Belgium). A pupil of René Defossez, Pierre Boulez and Peter Eötvös, he was noted for his collaborations with contemporary opera composers. He worked with various orchestras throughout Europe, most notably as artistic director of the Orchestre symphonique de Mulhouse (2013–2020). Just before his untimely death he was appointed director of the Conservatoire Royal De Liège. He died as he was about to rehearse Jean-Luc Fafchamps' Is This the End? in Théâtre Royal De La Monnaie, Brussels.
