About this artist

Patrick Paige II has been highly successful as a member of the Internet. Primarily acting as bassist for that Grammy-nominated R&B band, Paige has also worked diligently on his own music, which includes Letters of Irrelevance (2018) and If I Fail Are We Still Cool? (2021), full-lengths showcasing his gift for jazz-inflected hip-hop and talent for exceptionally open lyricism and inventive production. Similar to the Internet’s acid jazz and neo-soul influences and proclivity for experimentation, Paige’s solo material is a boundary-pushing pastiche of styles.
The Los Angeles-based Paige joined the Internet as touring bassist in 2011, shortly after Syd and Matt Martians formed the band. He has had a hand in writing and producing since the first Internet LP, Purple Naked Ladies. Toward the end of 2015, following the release of the second and third Internet albums, Feel Good and the Grammy-nominated Ego Death, Paige made his solo debut with Prelude. The EP was a completely instrumental affair, but Paige dipped his toe into the role of vocalist/rapper/songwriter on the soul-baring 2017 single “You Ain’t Missing Much.” After additional singles “Voodoo” and “On My Mind/Charge It to the Game” (featuring Syd and Kari Faux), Paige issued his debut album, Letters of Irrelevance, in May 2018. Paige returned in 2021 with a handful of solo tracks that led to the May release of If I Fail Are We Still Cool?, distributed by Fat Possum. The set contained appearances from Internet mates Syd and Steve Lacy, as well as Durand Bernarr and Allen Love. ~ Fred Thomas & Andy Kellman
