Italian flutist.
Born in Pistoia, Italy, Paolo Zampini has studied flute under the guidance of Mario Gordigiani. For more than 30 years he has been leading an active concert life, performing as a soloist and as a member of important orchestras and ensembles: the RAI National Symphony Orchestra, the Roma Sinfonietta Orchestra, the “Gruppo di Roma”, the AMIT Orchestra and the Soloists Ensemble of the Roman Philharmonic Academy. As a soloist, he has recorded hundreds of movie soundtracks, and has collaborated with Maestro Nicola Piovani for theatrical works; with Maestro Franco Piersanti for the concerts dedicated to Nino Rota; with Maestro Luis E. Bacalov for movie soundtrack concerts. One of Maestro Ennio Morricone’s favourite performers, Paolo has been playing the Maestro’s film and chamber music for many years. He has given concerts in France, Belgium, UK, Germany, Norway, the Czech Republic, Israel, USA, Spain, Japan, Syria, Portugal and Russia. He has recorded for the main Italian television networks: Rai Uno, Mediaset and Tele Montecarlo. He has recently recorded, as part of a Trio, a CD called “Film Music”, dedicated to Maestro Morricone’s movie soundtrack compositions. Together with Gilda Buttà and Luca Pincini, he stars in the Warner DVD “Ennio Morricone Arena Concerto”. Since 1980, Paolo has been teaching the flute in three National Conservatories: the "Francesco Cilea" in Reggio Calabria, the "Licinio Refice" in Frosinone and, currently, at the "Luigi Cherubini" in Florence.
