About this artist

Outer Limits were a band that came together in Cawston, North Norfolk, UK in early 1980. Guitarists Pete Fisher and Huey Dowling hooked up with rhythm section Trevor Kennedy (drums) and Dave Guttridge (bass), both ex-members of Norwich teen punks The Stoats, and vocalist Jane Bailey to form a band who were a unique mix of rock, indie and punk, with a few Zappaesque chords thrown in for good measure. They stood out from the usual village hall bands in the region, with tight and sometimes complex arrangements. Jane's vocals had perhaps a hint of Siouxsie and Pete and Huey's guitars meshed to create what Huey called "wide chords". Trevor and Dave powered the engine room with youthful musical energy, but they steered through the songs skilfully, sometimes at murderous tempos. The band was only around for just over a year, Dave stepping down around halfway to be replaced by Chris Hawkins, one of the finest bass players on the Norwich scene, but these recordings remain as a reminder of some great music and that a whole lot of fun was had making it...
