About this artist

Electro-pop duo Miranda! formed in 2001 in Buenos Aires, consisting of singer/songwriter Alejandro Sergi and Julianna Gattas. Coming up through the electronica scene playing small concerts and parties, Miranda! soon developed a reputation as one of the better groups in the sugar-pop and dance world. Showmanship became the bedrock for their success, including their outlandish apparel and stage antics. The group took its name from silver screen-era actor Osvaldo Miranda, star of the 1937 film Los Muchachos de Antes No Usaban Gomina. This aesthetic set the stage for the glitz and glamour that the quintet would seek to emulate. Miranda! made their debut in 2002, when Secsy Discos released the group’s first album Es Mentira. They broke through to international recognition in 2004 with the release of their second album, Sin Restricciones, which included the major hit “Don.” Moving to Pelo Music in 2005, Miranda! released their first live album, En Vivo Sin Restricciones! The show was recorded at Buenos Aires’ Gran Rex Theater. Following 2006 EP Quereme!, Miranda! released their third full-length, El Disco de Tu Corazón, in 2007. The album included collaborations with Mexican pop/rock star Julieta Venegas and Spanish electro-pop band Fangoria. Following 2008 compilation El Templo del Pop, fourth album Es Imposible! and CD/DVD Directo! appeared in 2009. Fifth full-length Magistral appeared in 2011, followed by the live double-CD/DVD Luna Magistral in 2012. Safari was released in 2014; the album included acoustic as well as electronic versions of its ten songs. Compilation El Templo del Pop and the two-CD/DVD Vivo appeared in 2016, and Miranda!’s seventh full-length (and Sony debut) Fuerte arrived in 2017. ~ Evan C. Gutierrez
