Mees Joachim

About this artist

Mees Joachim is a visual artist. experimental musician and the owner of ADIEUX - A post-vanity label that occasionally also releases music by other artists.

They have published music under a variety of monikers, such as Absolute Candor, Pink Boah, Zalmroze, Nick Nicole pt.II / Nicolette Nixon, (DJ) Joachim Stiller, General Filth, All Solid Matter Resists, Defiantly Hardcore, Jan-Peter de Wit and amalgamations thereof (Absolutely Stiller Resists, etc.). More often than not as the sole proprietor of such a project, though on occasion in collaboration with other musicians and groups (Jerboah, 陈依依, Mx Fomay, etc.). Each project is a creature in it's own right and musically and thematically diverse.

The one common thread among these projects is the almost obsessive need to create something new, something experimental and something unheard. Finding new sounds in old sounds, with a preference for things bordering on ugly. Detuned guitars battling with the sharp tones of synths... There's never a dull moment.

Though most of their music has been released independently or through their post-vanity label ADIEUX, they've also released with labels such as C!Areksss (US), BBJTC (DE), Mahorka (BG). Next to that, the artist has performed and showcased works in a variety of venues, such as Paradiso, de Tolhuistuin, Dokzaal, TivoliVredenburg, Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Xiaozu, etc.

2024 saw them collaborate with a wide array of artists, such as Xiu Xiu, Gyrofield, Fausto Mercier and Matt Evans, on their EP (released as Zalmroze).
