A regular face of the big screen and television, McKenna Grace carved herself a successful acting career before issuing her debut single “Haunted House” in 2021. A slew of others followed — “You Ruined Nirvana,” “Post Party Trauma,” and “do all my friends hate me?” — before she issued her rock- and pop-inspired angst-filled debut album, Bittersweet 16, in 2023.
Born and raised in Grapevine, Texas, Grace started her acting career at the age of four in shows such as Crash & Bernstein and The Young and the Restless. The big screen beckoned, and she landed roles in numerous movies including 2016′s Independence Day: Resurgence, 2017′s I, Tonya, and 2019′s Captain Marvel, but it was 2021′s Ghostbusters: Afterlife, in which she played Phoebe Spengler, that would kickstart her recording career. Growing up on a mix of pop and rock from her parents’ record collection, Grace had blended the two for the track “Haunted House,” which would eventually become part of the Ghostbusters soundtrack. More songs followed — the spiky, break-up track “You Ruined Nirvana” and the anxiety-themed “do all my friends hate me?” — before she released her angsty debut album, Bittersweet 16. ~ Rich Wilson
