Australia’s Lime Cordiale make upbeat, ’70s-style blue-eyed soul, funk, and rock-influenced pop. They debuted with 2017’s Permanent Vacation and topped the Australian album chart with 2020′s ARIA Award-winning 14 Steps to a Better You. They also joined actor-singer-rapper Idris Elba for 2022′s Cordi Elba before releasing “Country Club” and “Colin” with Colin Hay.
Formed in Sydney in 2009, Lime Cordiale centers on brothers Oli and Louis Leimbach, who tour with a large backing ensemble and horn section. The group released a debut EP, Faceless Cat, in 2012, followed a year later by their sophomore EP, the Daniel Denholm-produced Falling Up the Stairs. Over the next few years, they balanced recording in the studio with a heavy touring schedule. In 2017, Lime Cordiale delivered their full-length debut album, the Dave Hammer-produced Permanent Vacation.
The earworm-heavy single “Robbery” arrived in 2019, paving the way for the band’s sophomore album, 2020′s 14 Steps to a Better You. Again produced with Dave Hammer, the album included the tracks “Addicted to Sunshine” and “On Our Own.” A breakthrough for Lime Cordiale, 14 Steps to a Better You topped the Australian albums chart, won the J Award for Australian Album of the Year, and picked up six ARIA Awards, including winning Breakthrough Artist - Release. In 2022, they released a collaborative EP with actor/musician Idris Elba, Cordi Elba, which reached number nine on the ARIA charts. More singles arrived in 2022, including “Facts of Life,” “Country Club,” and “Colin,” the latter of which paid tribute to and featured vocals by iconic Men at Work frontman Colin Hay. ~ Matt Collar
