About this artist

Though Layla is best known for her soft, unique, velvety voice, she will be first to admit that she much prefers songwriting in her bedroom to performing onstage. Indeed, she has written songs for film, television, and theater, with her most recent work with Playbuilders of Hawaii for the play, "Dragonfly" earning her a Po'okela Award in 2017. She has self-produced six albums and was named Amoeba Music's Homegrown Artist, having collaborated with many established Los Angeles producers such as Cori "DJ Fader" Jacobs (Lauryn Hill), Kevin Dippold (Smashing Pumpkins), and Jonathan Burkes (That Noise). Her albums include, "Chocolate Ice Cream" (2009), "Spilt Chocolate Milk" (2010), "Bittersweet Chocolate" (2011), "Vendetta" (2012), "Confidential" (2013), and "Love, Los Angeles" (2016).

She is currently working on her tenth studio project, and jamming with her new band, Birds in the Kitchen.
