The first album from Citrus horse entitled “Made in Mexico” is a concept album that tells the story of a near death experience front-man Alex Laugalis went through with a chef knife in his kidney. The concept album tells the story of how he was stabbed by his deranged ex-girlfriend and how this caused him to quit his life, his job, the United States and relocate to Mexico. Half based in Mexico City, Citrus Horse is an Indie/Alternative/Jam band fronted by Alex Laugalis handling violin/guitar/synth/vocals with Daryl Valliant on the bass. The other half of the band, in unconventional fashion, is based in St Petersburg, Florida where the other two members/producers (Matt Taylor/Brian Schimke) reside. Rather than sending tracks back and forth in the mail, the group embraces technology to allow them to make music together across the Gulf of Mexico without being in the same place all the time. Alex blends his classical violin training and jam band improvisational guitar style with a songwriting and lyrical approach that has an apparent touch of the 90s.
