British rapper Lancey Foux is known for his distinctively dark and moody brand of drill, trap, and R&B-infused hip-hop. He first emerged in 2015 with two albums, Pink and Teen Skum, the latter of which included his breakout hit “About It.” Along with modeling jobs, Foux gained wider attention with albums like 2017′s First Day at Nursery (with Nyge), 2018′s Too Far Alive, and 2018′s Pink II. In 2019, he delivered Friend or Foux (featuring the song “India”). The Kaytranada-produced Life in Hell arrived in 2022. He has also released several mixtapes and collaborated on tracks with Lil Yachty and 24kGoldn. In 2023, he was joined by Sexyy Red on his third mixtape, Back2datrap. Born Lance O. Omal in 1995 in Stratford, London, Foux grew up in Plainstow, Newham, East London in a family of Ugandan descent. He became interested in hip-hop in his teens and initially started out by freestyle rapping over beats he found online. He released his debut album, Pink, in 2015, with a second full-length, Teen Skum, arriving that same year. Included on the album was the track “About It,” which caught on locally, a breakthrough reinforced by his live performance on Foux’s on SBTV Summer Cookout. He continued posting tracks on SoundCloud, leading up to the release of a 2017 collaborative album with producer Nyge, First Day at Nursery. Foux’s style continued to develop, as evidenced in 2018 by Too Far Alive and Pink II. The latter album featured a guest spot by Grime rapper Skepta, with whom he joined on tour that year. With 2019′s Freind or Foux, the rapper again achieved wider attention with his track “India.” Also that year, he modeling for several fashion companies and events, including Trapstar, A-Cold-Wall, Naomi Campbell’s 2019 Fashion for Relief Gala, and others. He also sold out his first ever headline show at 02 Islington. Over the next year, he released several singles, including “Poison” (featuring Bakar), the Black Lives Matter anthem “Time For War!,” and “Relax!.” Several mixtapes appeared during this period, including 2021′s First Degree and Live.Evil, the latter of which featured appearances by Lil Yachty and 24kGoldn. In 2022, he delivered his seventh album, 2022′s Life in Hell, which featured contributions by 070 Shake and production credits from Kaytranada. He followed a year later with the Bally-produced mixtape, Back2datrap, which featured a guest spot by Sexyy Red. ~ Matt Collar
