Kreepa

About this artist

kREEPA was founded in 2000 by John Richards and Hilary Jeffery. The project began with recordings where extended instrumental improvisations were combined with simple electronic textures. The recorder player Cesar Villavicencio joined the group after meeting Jeffery in the Meta Orchestra at Dartington International Summer School 2000. Recording continued throughout 2001 including two sessions with Villavicencio and one with the saxophonist and bagpipe player Paul Dunmall. The original recordings now exist as Kreepa’s first CD release Issue 1. During 2002 kREEPA collaborated with the American dancer, choreographer and designer Aurora Corsano. This work included a residency at STEIM which culminated in a performance at the Frascati Theatre in Amsterdam with Paul Dunmall. In 2004 kREEPA took part in a special one-off concert with Walter Fabeck at Trinity Buoy Wharf in London with a kRUISE taking the audience along the Thames to and from the venue. Since October 2000, kREEPA have performed with various line-ups in Leicester, Ebenhofen, Gent, Barcelona, Alicante, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Norwich, London and Birmingham. Current activity includes collaboration with 'grindcore' specialsists Black Galaxy and a release on Charhizma.
