About this artist

Ghanaian vocalist Kelvyn Boy emerged into the Afrobeats scene during the late 2010s, using his flowing vocals to land hits like “Down Flat” and “Tele.”
Born in Ghana’s Assin Fosu region, vocalist Kelvyn Brown spent his early years studying in Kumasi, before committing to music full-time under the alias Kelvyn Boy. Debuting with the optimistic 2017 single “Pray,” the musician immediately demonstrated a gift for melody and flow — a skill he continued to demonstrate on subsequent singles “No War” and “Toffee” (with Medikal). After collaborating with fellow Ghanaian Stonebwoy on “Na You,” Kelvyn was signed to the former’s label, Burniton Music Group, in 2018, and was featured alongside the label head on “Kpo K3k3.” Following a run of Afropop/Afrobeats-led singles in 2018, the musician made his full-length debut with 2019’s T.I.M.E., an airy eight-track set of danceable, relationship-themed anthems. He left Burniton shortly after the project’s release.
The 2020s proved more prolific for the Ghanaian vocalist. After releasing the single “Momo (Mobile Money)” amid a string of loose tracks, Kelvyn issued a second, more substantial set, Blackstar, which produced his biggest hit to date in the Crayon-featuring “Tele.” Spurred on by the project’s success, he spent 2021 and 2022 primarily in collaboration, enlisting Joey B and Kwesi Arthur for his “Visa (Remix)” and working on singles with the likes of Pronto and Efya, and finding another major hit with the ten-million-streams “Down Flat.” ~ David Crone
