About this artist

Aurum is a chamber choir from Trondheim, Norway, made up of 24 singers. Established in 2006, the choir soon took up a position as one of the leading mixed choirs in Trondheim. Since then, Aurum have been awarded gold diplomas and appraised as bestin-class in several of Interkultur’s choir competitions, as well as The Norwegian Choir Championship where, in 2015, they made a clean sweep. Aurum is also sought after in collaborations with other musicians, and has worked on projects with Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, Ila Brass Band, Motorpsycho, The Norwegian Soloists’ Choir, Holst Singers, and many other musicians and choirs around the country.
The essence of Aurum is a genuine passion for the beauty of choral music. From humble beginnings, when a group of friends got together to sing Antonio Lotti’s “Crucifixus a 8 voci”, to every great concert experience at home and abroad since, this passion has been the core motivation. The choir’s ambitions have grown alongside its progression musically, and its mission is clear: in addition to honouring the heritage of traditional choir music, Aurum seeks to be a principal contributor in the development of new Norwegian contemporary music. They wish to be a medium for young composers’ experimentation, and offer the opportunity to have their music performed. In this sense, “UR” is the culmination of the passion and commitment that drives Aurum.
