About this artist
From a dream, Joseph Akins released his first solo piano album, Masterpeace, in 2007. Since, he has released eight more. Spirit Touch, was included in Kathy Parson’s Top Albums of the Decade. A Piano Christmas and Castle Moon earned awards for album of the year. In 2021, Dream World earned the prestigious Album of the Year from Whispering Solo Piano Radio. And in 2023, Joseph collaborated with flutist Sherry Finzer for Earth Beat. Joseph’s Southern roots are heard through his mellow, gentle approach to the piano. He and his wife Unita reside in Tennessee where Joseph teaches music production at Middle Tennessee State University.
