Gym Class Heroes emerged in 1997 when Travie McCoy and drummer Matt McGinley bonded in gym class in Geneva, New York. Over the years they broke through with hits like “Cupid’s Chokehold” and “Stereo Hearts,” earning platinum status and widespread radio play. Travie McCoy also found solo success with Lazarus (2010), especially via the single “Billionaire.” After some years of relative dormancy, they’ve recently reactivated and in 2025 were inducted into the Rochester Music Hall of Fame. On August 30, 2025, McCoy surprised fans by performing “Billionaire” at a Savannah Bananas game in Pittsburgh alongside a team player. Their first new album in fourteen years is slated for 2026.
