Good Ol' Boyz
Biography
With unexpected sounds from a diverse set of uniquely talented individuals, the Good Ol’ Boyz are sweeping the California Country/hip-hop scene in unprecedented territory. "We walk the line between genres, so we get to work with all kinds of artist." says Remington, who supplies the Guitar and vocal sounds for the trio.
California is much bigger than the mega-cities that it is known for. Most of the Golden State is rural and sparse. The members of Good Ol' Boyz hail from these parts unknown to the world. Remington, Kali J and Ronny Ron, came together as friends with humble origins starting in Placerville CA.
The California natives wrote their independent debut album, "Country Fried Pimpin',” while in El Dorado County. They wrote, produced, pressed and packaged the first album selling over 4000 by hand alone.
After performing shows at every local venue, GOB had outgrown the small gold mining city, and began to spread their sound. They performed in larger venues and with bigger names, such as Lake Tahoe opening for Too $hort and Andre Nikatina.
After great success, and raving fans in the local scene, the Boyz started organizing and producing their own shows. For boldly being unique in the hip-hop scene, respect was due, and GOB created strong connections in the music scene. GOB was able to create shows with local CA Bay area legends as headliners, and let other local up-and-coming acts open for their favorite old-school artist.
In addition to their musical skills, GOB was now versed in the skill of concert promotion making work with promoters and venue owners simple.
After several years of performing shows, creating thousand of unexpected fans, and honing their skills on stage and in the booth, GOB set their sights on Sacramento the capital city. GOB began performing at new venues in the city while writing their sophomore album, "Country to the City."
Good Ol' Boyz have made their name in the the highly competitive, west coast hip-hop scene while maintaining their backwoods style. The upcoming album, "Country to the City," is inspired by the contrast of the California country and the city life.
"The new album is like if Johnny Cash and 2pac made an album." says J, the GOBs vocalist and producer. GOB showcases their lyrically astounding vocals over a mix of Country, Classic Rock, Hip-Hop and R&B rhythms.
The first single, "Country to the City," of the titled album, was a collaboration that almost didn't happen. After a video shoot for GOBs song, "Dabs," director Jae Synth spoke with Bubba Sparxxx, who was in Sacramento for a show. When the first shoot was over, J and Ronny went to the studio with an open beat to build the song on. That night between midnight and 4 am, Bubba recorded his verse and his portion of the video before he had to leave town.
The song came together as a representation of the country and city lives of every day people. GOB has seen an overwhelming response to the first single. With their video directed by Jae Synth on youtube, "Country to the City," has been viewed over 20,000 times in the first months and is steadily growing everyday.
Good Ol' Boyz are currently growing their online presence in leaps and bounds. Thousands of loyal fans in the area, even more online, GOB now sets their sights on the nation. Incorporating digital music, strong social media has let people from all over the U.S. and the world listen to the Good Ol' Boyz unique music, and the response is the same, GOB is on the rise.
