A Houston-based contemporary gospel singer who bears such secular influences as Donny Hathaway and Stevie Wonder, Gene Moore released his long-awaited debut, The Future, in 2017. A son of two pastors, Moore grew up surrounded by music and the church, singing with the Southeast Inspirational Choir as a teenager. Initially, Moore intended to pursue broadcasting as his career, but he began to drift back to gospel in his early twenties. He worked as a youth pastor and praise & worship leader, eventually signing with Motown Gospel in October 2013. Moore took his time to record his first album for Motown Gospel. Over the next few years, he worked as a supporting vocalist on-stage and in the studio, while assembling material for his first album. The Future finally arrived in July 2017, preceded by the single “Recover.” ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
