Flo Milli is praised for her lighthearted demeanor and fluid, punch line-heavy rhyme styles. The viral internet response to her 2018 single “Beef FloMix,” a brazen anthem of self-confidence, catapulted the Alabama rapper from underground status to streaming numbers in the millions. She capitalized on the attention in 2020 with her debut mixtape, Ho, Why Is You Here? The acclaimed release was followed by the 2022 studio album You Still Here, Ho? and additional singles like 2023′s “Nasty Dancer” and “Einstein.” She reached the Billboard Hot 100 with “Never Lose Me,” ahead of the release of her next album, 2024′s Fine Ho, Stay, which also charted. Flo Milli grew up in Mobile, Alabama, and began rapping at age 11. She released her first single, “No Hook,” in 2015 when she was 16 years old. Milli issued new music sporadically over the next few years, but it wasn’t until her 2018 reworking of the instrumental from Playboi Carti and Ethereal’s woozy track “Beef” that the seeds were planted for her fame. As “Beef FloMix,” Milli’s dominant lyrics transformed the song into a decimation of would-be haters and gained some traction on its own. When fans on the internet started using it to soundtrack their own dance videos, however, things really took off. The song was soon racking up millions of streams, and its video was viewed millions of times. From there, Flo Milli scored several other viral singles, with 2019′s “In the Party” being followed by a string of tracks in 2020 such as “Not Friendly,” “Weak,” and “Like That Bitch.” Along the way, the rapper signed on with RCA, and in July 2020, the best of these songs and previously unreleased material were collected in the form of Flo Milli’s first mixtape, Ho, Why Is You Here? The release charted in the top half of the Billboard 200, and Milli was nominated for Best New Artist at the BET Hip Hop Awards. She continued making guest appearances and releasing singles such as “Roaring 20s” (2021) and “PBC” (2022). Her first studio album, You Still Here, Ho?, arrived in July 2022. Flo Milli then released the Ludacris collaboration “Buying All Black,” followed by “Nasty Dancer” and “Einstein” in 2023. After the release of an extended edition of You Still Here, Ho?, Milli collaborated with Trina, Maiya the Don, and J.K. Mac for the song “No Love Shemix.” She appeared on Saucy Santana’s “Whole Family,” and released another collaboration with Maiya the Don, “Anything Flows,” also featuring 2Rare and Kari Faux. After more solo singles like “Fruit Loop” and “Chocolate Rain,” Milli released the sensual “Never Lose Me,” soon followed by a remix featuring Lil Yachty. The song became Milli’s first to reach the Billboard Hot 100, and it appeared in advance of her second studio album, Fine Ho, Stay. Fine Ho, Stay was released in March of 2024 and debuted in the #54 position on the Billboard 200 albums chart. ~ Fred Thomas
