About this artist

Eric Saade is a Swedish pop singer who rose to fame on the Disney Channel and at the Melodifestivalen prior to making his smash hit album debut with Masquerade in 2010. Born on October 29, 1990, in Kattarp, Helsingborg, Sweden, he initially rose to fame as a television personality on the Disney Channel, where he did voice-over work on the Swedish version of the film Camp Rock in 2008 and hosted the show My Camp Rock in 2009. In the meantime, he was a member of the teen pop group What's Up. After rising to fame on the Disney Channel, however, Saade left What's Up to embark on a solo career and sign a recording contract with Roxy Recordings. It wasn’t long before he made his label debut with the single “Sleepless” in 2009. While the single wasn’t a major hit, Saade scored a smash hit with the follow-up single “Manboy.” Written by Fredrik Kempe and Peter Boström, “Manboy” topped the Swedish singles chart and won Saade third place at the Melodifestivalen. Shortly thereafter, Saade made his full-length album debut with Masquerade. Featuring “Sleepless” and “Manboy” along with the Kempe-written follow-up single “Break of Dawn,” Masquerade reached number two on the Swedish albums chart. ~ Jason Birchmeier
