English soprano singer.
Having graduated from Durham University with a First Class Honours degree in Music, Emily Owen went on to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, completing an Extended Artist Masters with Distinction in 2016 and becoming a GSMD Ensemble Artist Fellow with early music ensemble Ceruleo in 2017/18. She currently studies with Tim Evans-Jones. Emily leads a varied performing career as a consort singer and soloist, performing regularly with the Monteverdi Choir and Orchestra, The Kings Consort, Dame Emma Kirkby’s Dowland Works, Apollo5 a cappella group and Polyphony and is a regular soprano at St Bride’s Church Fleet Street. She is a Live Music Now musician, with her lute and soprano duo Melismata, and performs regularly in care homes and SEND settings.

Emily made her BBC Proms solo debut with the Monteverdi Choir and Orchestra, performing the soprano duets in Handel’s Dixit Dominus alongside Julia Doyle. She was a semi finalist in the London Handel Festival Singing Competition 2021.

Future collaborations include tours of Berlioz, Bach and Schütz with the Monteverdi Choir and Orchestra in 2021/2022 and her first performances with Stephen Layton’s Polyphony in London and Oslo. Emily’s second recording with the The Kings Consort of Purcell Odes is now released on the Vivat label and she will be joining Ceruleo for their debut album of works by Purcell, Blow and their contemporaries, to be released in Spring 2022.
